Collection Perfection Concealer

Once I got my new collection foundation I found the concealer I had just didn’t look right with it. It was a little to dark to match the foundation. So off I went on the hunt for a new concealer which surprisingly didn’t take long because for once I used common sense and went for the collection lasting perfection concealer that went with my foundation In shade 1 fair. Concealer

Having heard alot of hype about this concealer I was quite excited to try it. The colour is beautiful. It’s the perfect shade for hiding my dark circles and cover any redness mostly around my nose as I have had a bit of a cold. It’s a lovely brightening colour. But i’m not sure if i’m doing something wrong but to be honest i’m not all that impressed. As I said the colour is beautiful but I don’t like the formulation. It seems to be hard to blend in I tried it with my brush and it was quite difficult to blend. So I thought maybe it needs the heat of your fingers to blend properly but that didn’t work either. I just can’t seem to get it to blend properly. It just sits on the eyes and almost looks like it’s creasing and makes it look like I have loads of wrinkles which I don’t. I’m not sure what else to try. I really want to love this concealer as it is quite literally the perfect shade for me. If I can ever figure out a way to make it work I will be so happy. So for now I shall keep experimenting and hope for the best but until then if anyone has any suggestions on how to make this work better for me please let me know.

Foundation Problems

As i’m sure any pale girl will tell you trying to find a foundation pale enough is blooming hard work! I spent so much time looking into all these different foundations that are supposed to be pale enough. The main problem I found when I finally found a foundation that was actually pale enough is that after about 5 minutes it seemed to have oxidized to a ridiculous orange shade. So I did some more research and I found a few articles saying how I should try a foundation with pink undertones instead of yellow. Sounds simple right? NO!!! It was near on impossible to find. The only one that I managed to find was a mineral powder on ebay but every time I went to buy it the seller seemed to have closed the shop then reopened when I had no money :-(. So I started watching TONS of youtube videos on the best foundation for pale skin. They all seemed great but really expensive and seen as I don’t use it everyday and have never finished a bottle of foundation I didn’t want to go for them. After weeks of thinking I finally thought back to the foundation I used a few years back that I never had a problem with. The collection lasting perfection 16hr foundation. Last time I used it I had the shade 2 ivory. When I looked again they had the shade 1 porcelain I’m not sure if this was new or they just never had it in stock when I bought it before. But I thought sod it for £6 why not give it a go I had already tried 1 foundation that just made me look bright yellow so it can’t be any worse than that right? So I ordered it in porcelain partly because the picture online looked quite pink toned rather than yellow and partly because I remembered how much I loved the foundation the first time and I always just go for the palest shade. It finally arrived and I must admit when I first looked at it I wasn’t all that impressed by it the colour looked nothing like the picture online. I know what everyone will say you should have gone out and bought it but working six days a week you just don’t get the time to do it plus when my other half takes the car I would have to get like 3 buses just to get to the nearest town center to get it.

 Foundation

So I once again I thought sod it i’ll give it ago. I will admit I need to be slapped on the wrist for judging a book by it’s cover. I applied the foundation and it blended in so beautifully and to my surprise matched my skin tone almost perfectly. I don’t look orange when I wear this and it doesn’t look cakey either. Although I would still like to find a foundation with a more pink undertone this one is more than good enough. The foundation is probably a medium coverage which is good for me I mostly only wear foundation to try and neutralise my forever red cheeks and this does a brilliant job. It applies sooo smoothly with my New Make Up Brushes. It just helps to even my skin tone whilst still looking super natural and makes your skin appear super flawless (which unfortunately as i’m not beyonce I don’t wake up like it). The only thing I do find with this foundation is it takes a while to set and almost seems to stay wet so I do find I need a powder with it. But I can live with that as it was on 3 for 2 when I brought it so I ordered one at the same time. If anybody has any good recommendations for foundation that is more pink toned than yellow and not super expensive please let me know as I am still on the hunt for that perfect foundation although this one is pretty damn close.

Sleek Blush

After watching a lot of youtube videos I decided I should invest a sleek blush (so easily influenced) I had been looking for a nice pink blush which wasn’t to over the top but still a nice colour payoff and a little shimmer. All reviews of it said how amazing sleek blushes are. So I caved and gave in to the hype and boy oh boy am I glad I did. This colour is absolutely beautiful I went for the rose gold. Sleek Blush

The colour payoff is amazing it is highly pigmented. The shimmer in it is so subtle you barely no it’s there. Although it is subtle the shimmer in the right light I find just gives a healthy looking glow. And I don’t know if this makes me a complete weirdo which I already know I am but I also found this colour makes the perfect eyeshadow colour aswell. I had been looking for a colour like this in eyeshadow but I couldn’t find the right shade (I might just be fussy). But as soon as it arrived I just thought oh my I think this is THE colour. This may sound like a very cheesy pun but the packaging is also sleek (haha) and classy I like the fact is is simple and not to over the top Sleek my only complaint with the packaging is the claspy bit to open it seems to enjoy torturing me by breaking my nails normally just after I have done them 😦

So for me this is a perfect item (other than the nail snapping claspy bit) and i’m glad I hopped on the bandwagon and brought this. I highly recommend this product I am eventually going to try more sleek. But I think I have to sneak it in to my makeup bag without the otherhalf knowing as he already thinks I went a little crazy with my christmas list but hey ho he’ll get over it hehe.

Buttermilk Pancakes

My other half used to be a chef (I know lucky me). When we went shopping a couple of weeks ago he spotted buttermilk which I had never used before. Originally the plan was scones but when it’s late at night and you are craving sweet things scones just take to long and i’m very impatient sometimes hehe. So the end result was buttermilk pancakes. We made so many that we still had some left over for breakfast today. I’ve never been a huge fan of pancakes but these were delicious. They’re so versatile on what and when you can have them it’s definitely a fab recipe to know. The first time we made them I SMOTHERED them in milky way spread which I would like to nominate as one of the greatest food inventions ever!!! Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of that as I ummmmmm I demolished them I forgot but they were amazing. This morning I went a little more breakfast style and topped it with cherry yogurt which was just as good and slightly more appropriate for the time of day and this bad boy is the result   DSCF0323

The shape of the pancake is slightly ummm odd but I didn’t have a pan the right shape and size for it so it went in the smallest one I could find which was square oops. The recipe is so easy to make and so quick.

256g Plain flour/all purpose flour

50g Caster sugar

2 1/4 Teaspoon Baking powder

1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda

1/2 Teaspoon Salt

2 Eggs (I used medium size)

500ml Butter Milk

57g Unsalted Butter (Melted)

2 Drops Vanilla essence

Sift all the dry ingredients together into a bowl.

In a separate bowl mix the wet ingredients.

Then add all the ingredients together and mix gently. It doesn’t matter if it is still a little lumpy you don’t want to over mix it or it will become to flat.

Heat a pan with a little bit of butter in there when it is hot and the butter is melted add the mixture in and cook until the mixture is stiff and golden on one side then flip and do the same on the other side.

Now the best bit!! Top your pancakes with whatever you like.

I hope you like this recipe let me know how it goes if you try it

Vichy Skincare

I don’t know if anyone is aware of this but last year Vichy did a competition through facebook to win some of there new products and amazingly I somehow won it (I have never won anything before). It arrived promptly in what I must say was a beautiful envelope it was a gorgeous bright pink bubbly envelope. So straight away I was impressed (it’s the little things) then upon opening it i was greeted by some rather lovely products. photo 1

I was so impressed by the oustide packaging alone (I am easily impressed and still cant bring my self to throw the boxes away) I then gave them a try. The only product that I can’t use is the BB cream but thats because I am so ridiculously pale and it came in the shade medium. Vichy

They give the skin an amazing glow. I am quite lucky with my skin it is normally pretty good but it can be quite sensitive to the things I use on it. I use the eye cream first as a sort of concealer as it has a little colour to it I use it under my eyes and whats left on my finger across my eyelid and it acts as a sort of primer. I then use the life serum which when you pump it out onto your finger it is white with a little hint of pearlescent to it it feels so nice to apply soaks into the skin beautifully without making it greasy or sticky. Then I use the moisturizer which feels thick but when you apply it it melts into the skin effortlessly. This stuff is amazing! When I wear this I don’t need to apply foundation because it gives you such a beautiful natural looking glow. I then only need to wear a little eyeliner and eyeshadow and I am done.

Although I am so happy to have this I am already sad for the day it runs out. I don’t like spending alot of money on something like this and the fact that each product is over £20 I can’t say I can warrant spending that kind of money on it when unfortunately bills do have to be paid. Although I do think this product is worth the money I think my bank account needs it more 😦

New Makeup Brushes

It’s only really in the last year or so that I have really got into makeup. My mum was never one to wear more than a bit of lipstick on the very rare night out. I will admit that most of me learning how to do my make up has come from watching people on youtube. Whilst watching all these videos 1 thing I noticed was they always used nice brushes for certain things. I never knew anything about brushes except that i would use them for my eye shadow. Most of the brushes that they were using were things like the real techniques, MAC or sigma brushes. For me the thought of trying to choose what brushes I wanted from these collections was a little to daunting. Then there is the cost of them. Now I know not all of them are that expensive but the fact that when it came to makeup I was like a child with my lack of knowledge I didn’t want to spend a great deal on them and not use them or like them. So i did a bit of online shopping and found these……. photo

Not only are they amazing brushes but they’re purple (my favorite colour). They’re really soft not at all scratchy on the face. They apply your makeup flawlessly and smoothly with no shedding. I’ll be honest when I brought these on ebay I wasn’t expecting as high quality as they are. For the entire set of 10 brushes was less than £10 I can’t remember the exact price. They come in various colours so I chose the purple but they are avaliable in pink, blue and white. I got them as a Christmas present so have been using them for a little over a week now and I can honestly say I dont know why I didn’t invest in these brushes sooner. I will be purchasing the blue ones for my cousin for her birthday as she’s coming up to the age where she is just starting to get into makeup and i think these brushes are perfect for beginners. Having looked into them a bit more since receiving them I have actually seen them mentioned on youtube. Apparently they have now brought out more brushes so I will be investing in some more.
